On May 22nd, Ryan participated in the Symposium at the 2009 Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride, CO. The Symposium, which was hosted by Chef Ming Tsai, featured presentations by a number of top scholars and scientists who all spoke about food issues. To break up the long sessions, Ryan presented illusions customized for the food theme and designed to highlight certain environmental issues.
Ryan’s sister, Lauren, co-produced the film that won the Audience Award and Festival Director’s Award at the 2008 festival. Visit the Red Gold web site for more information the film.

Ryan just returned from a one week tour at the US Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan. Sponsored by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Ryan performed shows for troops, military personnel and their families. While on the base, which is home to over 30,000 US citizens, he performed a total of 7 shows at the various off-site military housing facilities as well as a show at the main theatre with Sideswipe. (Ryan had toured through several European Naval bases with Sideswipe in 2007. They are a great team of martial artists and were featured on America’s Got Talent. Check them out at SideSwipe Pro).
While at the base, Ryan was also privy to a private tour of the USS George Washington, the only nuclear powered aircraft carrier in Asia.
 On stage in Yokosuka, Japan.
Mission Accomplished: On the flight deck of the USS George Washington.

On the way across to the world to Japan, I got to visit Hawaii for the first time. Actually, it was a 24-hour stopover in Pearl Harbor to perform at the US Naval Base.
Many thanks to my sponsor, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group, for making it possible for me to perform two shows at the Navy Exchange facility on base.
Feeling ridiculously resplendent in my military sport jacket and a Hawaiian lei!

Ryan was honored to meet a truly great artist last night: Philippe Petit, the famed tightrope walker and star of the hit documentary Man on Wire. Petit was attending the Young Audiences Benefit at Cipriani’s Wall Street, where Ryan donated his performance for the evening.

For those of you parents familiar with my work on Comcast’s ActivityTV, you may be interested to hear that they’ve released a series of DVD’s from my MAGIC channel. (They tell me it’s consistently one of the highest rated channels out of all the activities… Nice!)
Not a Comcast subscriber? No problem!! Comcast has released three DVDs of my instructional magic videos… Volume 1, Volume 2, and a double disc Volumes 1 & 2 combined. While I’m slightly biased, I think the DVDs came out really nicely, with the same level of production quality as the program itself.
You can pick the DVDs up on Amazon.com.

Today I made my second appearance on QVC to promote the Cadaco Magic Show. Despite the long drive to Westchester, PA, I enjoyed the experience immensely. The spot went a lot better than the first one I made earlier this year, as I got more time with the host beforehand and was actually able to teach him several tricks.
You can watch the spot and buy the item on QVC.com. Just search for “cadaco magic”.
Funny anecdote: as I arrived early this morning the main entrance to the studio was closed off, and there were people gathering to peer in. I thought at first some celebrity was perhaps presenting, but I was wrong… a five-point buck had crashed through the lobby windows into the studio!

Last night I performed at New York’s School of Visual Arts as part of the 2008 Brainwave Festival. It was a full house of over 300 people! After a fantastic introduction by SVA Director Susanne Ankar, I presented an hour show of mostly mind-reading experiments and mind-reading, in an effort to demonstrate the effects of perception and persuasion.

Yesterday I was featured on NY1 during their tour of the Toy Fair here in New York this week. Of all the cool things to see at the show, I was excited to see our magic sets made the cut! (How’d we beat out that nasty edible Play-doh across the aisle?!?!) If you’re up for a personal demo (or a taste of Play-doh) come stop by the Javits Center — it’s open to the public (with registration) and is on until Thursday. If you’ve never been to the Toy Fair, it’s a pretty interesting scene to take in.
Watch the segment (or read the transcription) at NY1.

PS: For years, people have occasionally mis-spelled my name “Ochs”… the guy interviewed before me is an Ochs!

Today my hometown newspaper, The Advocate, ran a profile on me on the cover of the Arts & Travel section. The article mainly talks about The Real Hustle series… and divulges the fact that got scammed as a teenager!
